DEDICATION
We would like to take a moment to dedicate some of our efforts to our dearly beloved Cappy. Cappy, honey, we will miss you! You are home now! We love you! Rest in peace.
NEEDED!!
We are currently in need of volunteers (computer, calling, home visits, etc - the list is endless) and in major need of foster homes. All our foster homes are screened like our adopters. All vet expenses are paid for by the group. We are also currently looking into gaining our non-profit status and any help in this area would also be appreciated. All help is welcome! No one is refused due to limitations or time constraints - every little bit helps! Gas cards and phone cards for long distance are also much needed as is bags of premium kibble and treats!
!!!!!WISH LIST!!!!!
We have many needs at any given time but here are a few of the more important ones. Premium dog food, dog toys, blankets, crates, car/SUV grilles to keep transported dogs in place, leashes, collars, dog bowls, Frontline flea & tick products, a file cabinet or 2, a digital camera to take pics of our dogs, long distance calling cards, fax/copiers, money, gas cards even! Any desires to donate any of the previous items or anything that we may have forgotten to mention that may seem appropriate, please contact us at doberkidsrus@yahoo.com The list is endless, if you can think it, we can probably find a way to use it!
Who We Are
We are a groups of Doberman Lovers trying to help place abandoned and unwanted Dobes in loving and caring homes. Rescued Dobermans are not all abused and scarred dogs. Many of these dogs are being re-homed due to their families moving or getting divorced or because of medical conditions of the owners. Don't pass up a companion of a life-time because of things you may have heard, etc. Please fill out an application if you are interested in one of our dogs and a rescue rep will call you asap to discuss it. We strive to match the right dog w/ the fight family. When adopting a Dobe, PLEASE keep an open mind with appearances. What you ?want? might not be really. The PERFECT Doberman for you might not be the ears or color you thought you wanted. Wait until the home visit and at least take the time to meet the dogs we feel might fit your home best! You might find you ?heart? dog is not what you ?assumed? it would look like ;)
NO INQUIRIES, INCLUDING PHONE CALLS, WILL BE PROCESSED WITHOUT A COMPLETED APPLICATION. Please be patient with us when awaiting a return call or email as we all work full time 'regular' jobs and help the Doberkids in our 'spare' time. We look forward to placing our Doberkids in wonderful homes!
PLEASE remember, we actively support spay/neuter initiatives and we will NOT place any RDRR dog in a home w/ unaltered animals without a vet approved reason and/or animal is being shown!!!

ADOPTING A NEW FAMILY MEMBER
RDRR requires all adopters to fill out an application, allow a home visit and come meet with the dogs before approving any adoption. All dogs are current on all shots and neutered or spayed, and on heartworm preventative before placement. All adoptions require a contract. Adoption donations vary depending on vet costs and age. Generally $250-$300.00 but our first requirement is a home that will give our dogs the love and care that they deserve. A fenced in yard is desired but each home is evaluated on it's merits. All dogs must be indoor dogs and only taken outside for exercise, etc. You should be willing to drive to meet your potential dog. We are not always able to drive to you with each dog that may fit your family. We also have families and do this along with spending time with our own dogs and kids and jobs. Our fosters can be spread out, please be aware you may not meet the ?one? if your not willing to do some of the legwork to assist us in your search.
ADOPTION POLICY FAQ
Q: What do the adoption fees cover?
A: The adoption donation is generally $250-350.00 which covers spaying/neutering, current distemper and rabies vaccinations, de-worming, heartworm testing, microchipping and general care of the animals (food, medication, vet care, etc.). This fee may be higher depending on age and general vet costs of the dog but they are never 'extraordinary'.
Q: "I went to a Meet -n- Greet but they wouldn't let me take an animal home?"
A: Meet -n- Greets are events where the public can come and see what dogs we have available. It also allows us to meet you, and begin the process of you becoming a "doberparent". We do not take adoptions lightly - we make a lifelong commitment to these animals - we expect you to do the same.
Q: "Why do we need to do an interview?"
A: We have had time to learn the animal's personality - and by meeting with you and discussing your personality, home, family environment, etc. - we can get an idea whether this is indeed the right dog for you. Some dogs may have difficulty in a busy family setting, while others may be too active for an elderly family. We try to place the right dog with the right owner. When a dog goes into your home another takes their place so we'd rather not have the dog back in rescue, this is also not good on the dog, the less movement and changing of homes the better. We are looking for that one forever home for each of our dogs.
Q: "Why do I have to fill out an application and contract? Can't I just pick the animal I want and take him/her home?"
A: RDRR makes a commitment to all our dogs to place them in a safe and loving environment. The application and contract is our agreement with them, and you - that you will provide such an environment for them and that the dog is going to the 'right' place for them and will be in their 'forever' home from this point out.
Q: "If this doesn't work out - what can I do?"
A: Owning a Doberman is a big responsibility. This is why we interview prospective owners before hand. It's also why you must sign a contract with RDRR. We make a commitment to all the animals - the contract states that when circumstances make it impossible for a pet to remain with the adopting family, it is required that RDRR be notified and allowed to reclaim the pet. This will allow us to place the dog with a new owner.
Albino/White Dobermans
Thinking you want a "white" doberman? There is no such thing. There is only the albino doberman. While they too deserve a happy home as they didn't ask to be born, please go to the following page and read some of the FACTS about the Albino Doberman.
